Mobility for neck pain

If you have neck and upper back pain, there are a couple of things you might be doing that aggravate it… 

Do you walk leading with your head rather than your heart? 

Do you spend a lot of time on your mobile phone or tablet, on a computer, reading a book, or just generally looking at things lower than eye level? 

If you do, your head is likely hanging forward and pulling on the muscles at the back of your neck, causing upper back pain… You are not alone! 

The good news is that becoming aware of this means you can do something about it. 

The video below is something I often teach in Pilates class that helps get some movement into your upper back. When you are doing this movement, it’s important that you set your alignment so your ear is stacked over your shoulder.
